Brief Answer:
Needs detail evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your husband has severe pain in back and now passing blood in Urine (Hematuria).

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) What tests were done last time when he was admitted in ER.?
2) Was Ultrasound scanning done at that time?and what were the findings?

Hematuria associated with pain needs to be investigated thoroughly to find out the cause of bleeding .It s usually due to following conditions .
If you were to be my patient I would investigate you on following lines
1) Stone in the kidney or ureter.
This can be ruled out by doing ultrasound scanning of the abdomen.
2) Mass lesion in the kidney .
This can be detected on ultrasound scanning and confirmed by C.T Scan of the Kidney ,Ureter and Bladder.with radio opaque contrast medium.
3) Infective diseases of Kidney like Glomerulo nephritis ,Pyelonephritis .This can be detected by routine urine test and urine culture and blood tests .

Please get above tests done under guidance of qualified Urologist and Nephrologist to confirm the diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,
I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

I shall be happy if you can post the tests done in ER with results to make precise comments on his problem and cause of Hematuria.

The pain in back could be due to clot colic The cause and source of bleeding needs to be investigated on lines as I have directed in my reply earlier.
