What Causes Blood In Urine And Painful Urination?
Question: I have been taking 2 prostate products from walgreens.Prostate formula with Saw Palmetto or prostate complete and urinozinc pro-flo.for years and a whole Aspirin. Everything is fine is I take them, but this last week in the phillipines on vacation I forgot to take them for one or 2weeks , This morning I urinated and it was bloody and painful, So I took the supplements it was better. Am i okay?

Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have obstructing voiding symptoms due to enlarged prostate and have been taking supplements since many years .
The prostate supplements that have been available in market contain crude extract of medications that help to relax the smooth muscles in bladder neck and prostate and reduce congestion of prostate .
Since you have missed taking these products it has resulted into congestion of prostate and obstruction to urine flow giving rise to hematuria and dysuria .
Since you have restarted taking these products there in nothing to be worried about .
However I would suggest you to consult qualified Urologist for clinical examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis and modify modality of treatment if required
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Serum PSA.
Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis.
