Question: I think I might be anemic. I went to the bathroom to make a bowel movement n usually I have a lot of red or dark red blood after but today I had a little bit and it was orange. I also brushed my teeth today n usually my gums bleed alot too but today ther was very little blood and it to was orange. Could this be a sihn of being severely anemic? I have no health insuranc and know I need to go to the doctor but am to scared since my dad died a year and a half ago. im really scared tho. My father died four months after I took him to doctor because of him feeling really sick tired and lots of pain. He died of liver cancer. My son also had cancer on his kidney when he was 1 yrs old and then before my father died my mother was diagnosed with a form of kidney cancer too. Luckily they just had to remove her kidney because it hadnt spread but then she was diagnosed after my father died with cancerous tumors in her uterus but that also was not that serious she just needed to have it removed. So you can see why im so scared. But orange blood n very little bleeding does that mean I am severely anemic?

Brief Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM

Detailed Answer:
It doesnt neccessary mean that you are anaemic. If you dont have other symptoms such as dyspnea, fatigue, paleness then anemia isnt likely to cause your symptoms. Your symptoms could indicate some heamtologic disorders such as trombocytopenia or coagulopathy but also it can be seen in healthy people. Of course blood in stool should be evaluated.
Some serious diagnoses are not common in your age,but you should do certain tets to rule out some more serious conditions such as colon tumor or hematologic maliganncies. at this point you should do basic blood test to verify is there anemia or trombocytopenia. also you need to see proctologist who can investigate your stool color with endoscopy. If low hemoglobin and RBC is found you should take iron supplements and iron rich food, and B vitamins.
Wish you good health. Feel free to ask. Regards

I am alwayd very tired I have to force myself to ge t up and do what needs to be done I also am pale with discoloration on my eyelids thy looked bruised wit yellow on thm. I also have very itchy skin. Can haveing low iron and being animic cause you to get other infections. I usually have very clear skin but the past week my face has broken out and I developed a what looks like a catbuncle between my eyebrows. iv never had one before so I researched and im pretty sure thats what it is. Its very big and had a red ring around it an yellow in middle. I just want to know if anemia and low iron can cause other infections. also been coughing up mucous for months.

Brief Answer:
hi

Detailed Answer:
anemia may be related with increased infection risk, but this shouldnt be significant. infections are related to white blood count. But anemia, iron and vitamin defficiency can lead to immune system weakening and it could cause skin and respiratory problems that you are describing. If you are tired and pale you may be anemic, but only lab tests can confirm this. You should check rbc and iron levels. It is also possible that too excessive periods lead to anemia.
