What Causes Blood In Stool?

default
Posted on Fri, 20 Jun 2014
Question: I would like another opinion, preferably from a specialist.

24-May and 25-May I had bright red blood w my stool. Two occurrences total. No other symptoms at the same time. No constipation, diarrhea, cramping, pain, difficulty with bowel movements, etc. The blood in stool had not ever occurred previously, has not repeated, and I have not had any other symptoms since.

Brief Answer:
Monitor and investigate future occurences!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this blood that you observed in your stool. Blood in stool could be due to very minor concerns like a tear, bruise, trauma, hemorrhoids, etc. or some more other concerning conditions like benign or malignant tumors. With the latter, these symptoms would persist and not easily give way.

Seen the fact that this bleeding has not recurred and you have other symptoms that ay suggest a possible concerning cause, there is no need not for aggressive medical attention right now. I will recommend that you monitor your stool for now and do not seek any further medical attention. Should these bloody stools recur, I will advice that you strongly consider seeing a gastroenterologists for proper evaluation. Depending on the initial findings, further examinations or a treatment plan would be proposed to you.

In all, the punctual nature warrants nothing beyond close monitoring right now. seek medical attention in future should these symptoms recur. I have a strong feeling that this could have been caused by one of the less concerning possible causes that often resolves spontaneously.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you so much for using our services and please do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications should need be.
