What Causes Blood In Semen?
Question: I don't really know if I have a question but I am concerned about my situation. My husband and I have been separated but have been working on our problems. During the last 6 weeks of so we have been intimate twice and today he told me he has blood in his semen. This scared me! He does not have symptoms of any kind. No pain, no swelling, no burning during urination etc. He is 46 years old.
I am concerned because he has told me that he "fantasizes" about other women in the past and now I can't help but wonder if he has been intimate with other women.
I had my uterus removed in 2011 due to a tumor but I still have my ovaries. After the second time we were intimate, about two weeks ago, I felt like I had a yeast infection. I purchase Monistat OTC and followed the instructions until the medications was gone. I don't have discharge or pain but I still feel a slight irritation occasionally. I finished the course of Monistat seven days ago. I don't know what to think? What are your thoughts about the situation?

Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic

Dear Ms
Presence of blood in semen also known as hemospermia usually indicates either vascular congestion of prostate (due to decreased sexual activity) or indicates inflammation of prostate.
It would be very helpful if you could provide me following additional information
1. Was the semen streaked with blood or completely mixed with blood ?
2. Does he have any lesion on genitals?
Awaiting your response
Take Care

Brief Answer:
If its single episode then no cause for worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi
If its isolated single episode of blood in semen and there are no other associated symptoms like deep seated perineal , increased frequency of micturition or burning sensation while passing urine then there is no cause for concern. Streaking of blood just implies some inflammation of anterior urethra and is self limiting.
If the symptoms recur then further assessment and thorough evaluation will be required
