What Causes Blood In Semen?

default
Posted on Tue, 31 Mar 2015
Question: Hi, 2 Weeks ago I found blood in my semen it was a brown colour, but there was no blood in my urine, the next day one of my testicles became swollen and painful, I went to my doctor and he referred me to the hospital (a&e) they took a look and did a ultrasound and concluded it was inflammed/infected, they perscribed me 2 weeks of ciprofloxacin to which i have my last dose tomorrow. In this time i have masturbated to check the blood is disappearing and it was, but over the past 3 days i have no noticed red bright blood in my semen as though it is fresh. Is this normal or something to be concerned about this?

Brief Answer:
If testis are not painful, no swelling, infection is most likely gone.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

If your testicles are not painful anymore, no swelling, there is nothing to be concerned. Just finish your antibiotic as prescribed. If the blood will be still present in semen, you should have semen test, swab test from urethra, urine culture test. This tests will answer if the infection has been cured or not. If not, mentioned tests will tell which antibiotic will be best for your infection.
It is good to consult urologist in such case.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
