Brief Answer:
not obstruction
Detailed Answer:
hi, you may very well have a partial obstruction, however it all depends of the type of surgery and how they reconnected the colon, and how was the staple line. you should not be completely obstructed, otherwise you would not be able to move your bowel and you would be
vomiting.
It is also important to know where was the piece of colon that was removed. If the "ileocecal valve" was removed (which is what divides the small bowel from the colon), then you are at risk of what is called SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth), which can cause
bloating and abdominal distention / pain.
The stomach itself should not be affected by the
colon surgery. However you may have a different problem, totally unrelated to your colon surgery.
Visiting a gastroenterologist would be helpful. You may need an
endoscopy and a
colonoscopy if these have not been done.
In the meantime I would suggest you taking over the counter probiotics.
Simethicone can be taken as well as needed for bloating.
Also i would suggest you minimizing foods that can cause bloating, such as fruits and vegetables, sugar suplements (such as Splenda, etc), chewing gum, sodas, spicy foods.
Hope that helps, let me know if i answered all your concerns.
