Friday morning around 5am I shaved my public hair rather fast and I shaved in the opposite direction of where the hair was going. I noticed through out the day that I developed tenderness in left side of my labia. Saturday morning when I woke up 3-4 little blisters formed but when I woke up Sunday morning they were gone. However sunday night an open sore appeared. It does not hurt at all but it's annoying because I know it's there... What could this be?

Brief Answer:
ulcer formation can occur after a blister

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Open sores and/ulcers can follow blisters, this is not an abnormal progression.

Any area of trauma can be followed by blister formation and subsequent sore formation.

Herpes is another cause of blister and ulcer formation but both the blister and ulcer are painful in this condition.

The ulcer should resolve within a week, most within 3 to 4 days.

Cleaning the area with a mild antiseptic and applying a topical antibiotic cream would help it to resolve.

The topical antibiotic would be available over the counter.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions

How painful are herpes ulcers? Could you still be able to funtion daily? And if this goes away in a few days, is it most likely just due to trauma?

Brief Answer:
usually very painful

Detailed Answer:
HI

In most persons they are usually very painful but this varies from one person to the next.

Since you are having no pain at all, unlikely due to herpes but if you wish to be certain then you may want to consider the blood test to check for herpes.

If you do have pain at any point then you can use an over the counter pain killer to help

Yes, you can still function as normal

Trauma can cause blister formation and subsequent ulcers.

Brief Answer:
it is an superficial ulcer based on image seen

Detailed Answer:
HI

it is an ulcer or not but based on image would not be able to rule out if you do or do not have any evidence of herpes, if this is the concern.
Unfortunately only a blood test can do this if you wish to rule it out definitively.

Ulcers can form as a result of any trauma to the skin

If anything else unclear feel free to ask
