What Causes Bleeding Gums After Teeth Polishing?

Question: Hi Doc,

I had bleeding gums
I visited dentist and they said it bcz of plague tar..calculus..
They did scaling and polishing of my teeth.. now my teeth is white and shiny
But..I get the blood occasionally from my gums still..what mabye the reason??

Redeposition of plaque could be the reason.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for writing in.

It could be due to redeposition of plaque & calculus or some left over calculus.
Do gum massage with chlorhexidine & metronidazole gel for bleeding gums.
If problem still persists then ask your dentist for deep subgingival scaling as there might be some pocket formation.
Maintain proper hygiene by regular brushing & flossing.
Also use 0.2% chlorhexidine mouthwash 10 ml half an hour after brushing for better hygiene.
Visit your dentist every 6 months for regular check-up.

I am using hexadine mouthwash
Can u please let me know the gel company name of metronidazole ??..I will use that too

Also what you mean by gum massage...?

I will use the above for 2 weeks to see..if gums are ok..otherwise will re visit the dentist again

Its Rexidine M gel used for gum massage.

Hi

You may use Rexidine M gel from mankind or Metrogyl DG gel.Use it for gum massage by applying with fingers on gums & massage for 5-10 min then rinse mouth.
If problem still persists visit your dentist.
