What Causes Bleeding From Black And Red Spots On Legs And Arms?
Question: My husband is having bleeding from black and red spots on his legs and arms, which have been there for a few weeks, but are now breaking skin and bleeding a lot.... Three times today! He is seeing a local Dr who has taken blood tests. But XXXXXXX t gotten results yet. The skin breaks and it bleeds a lot, then stays wet and oozing. What should we do?

1. Subcutaneous hemorrhage - fresh are red while old ones are black.
2. Usually due to senile vasculitis and associated skin thinning.
3. Need evaluation for other bleeding disorders. Platelet count is essential. Also a PT and aPTT test for any abnormalities.
4. Avoid abrasions to skin. Bleeding areas, sterile dressing. Avoid rubbing as it can cause injuries and bleeding. In non injured areas, apply skin moisturizer and have good hydration. Multivitamin supplements is necessary to improve skin.
Avoid rubbing or any injuries. It will heal.
Do get back with lab reports.
