Brief Answer:
Black stool can be an emergency which indicate possible blood in the stool

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

What you are describing can be a viral infection.

What concerns me though is the black color of the stool. If it is like petroleum black, it can be blood in your stool and you have to rule that out as soon as possible, because many things can arise after that. Make sure though that you haven't eaten foods that would color the stool like Iron supplements or red bead, etc.

So, my suggestion is that you need to go to the ER, so the doctors can do a finger exam, and if they see that the color is typical of blood in the stool, they will need to do a fibrogastroscopy and a colonoscopy (if you haven't done one in the last 10 years).

Drink plenty of fluids- very important.

Hope this is helpful.
Let me know if you need more clarifications.
