What Causes Black Colored Loose Stools?

Question: Hi Doctor, two days back i had 2 instances of loose motion...black and foul smell. i took enterogermina and BRAT diet for a day and then continued my regular food. today again i had 1 instance of loose motion..Not black and no foul smell. before the discharge i experience a pain in the stomach.

After reading your post, it seems that you might be having infection of the gastrointestinal tract. A stool examination will help in planning further medical management. You may need an antibiotic like Ciprofloxacin 500mg twice daily along with an antiamoebic like Metronidazole 400 mg thrice daily. Eat light meals prepared under hygienic conditions. Also take care of your hydration. You should continue with Enterogermina. Add an antacid like Omeprazole 40mg once a day before meals. Further medical management can be planned according to the reports.
