What Causes Anxiety And Panic Attack While On Cipro?

Question: Hi. I was prescribed today Cipro for a UTI. I made the mistake of reading the side effects. I have a history of anxiety and panic attacks and now I don't know if the nervousness, restlessness, and joint soreness and tingling is the medicine or my mind. How common are the side effects? I also, made a mistake of googling it and it stated that it can cause permanent nervous damage and sometimes the side effects stay after the medication has ceased. It stated that it's possible for torn tendons. I have very mild cerebral palsy and I'm wondering if this makes a difference? Am I overthinking? What do you advise?

dear Ms, it is very rare that ciprofloxacin causes joint pain and stiffness or mood changes or confusion. it also needs a very prolonged use to occur which is not likely as antibiotics are not commonly used for long time. I suggest you complete your course as prescribed by your doctor. if you can not tolerate the feeling that ciprofloxacin is causing you discomfort then you can refer to your doctor to change into another antibiotic .
