Brief Answer:
2 possible causes

Detailed Answer:
hi
i am dr mittal
i have read your query
i would like to rule out 2 possibilities

1. a possible seizure.
this may be the onset of seizures
many times seizures starts with a smell of types and this may lead to seizure eventually
its called aura.
i think this should be ruled out by a video eeg

2. a possible sinusitis
this often leads to patient getting smells that noone can get
however these are usually unpleasant smells
i therefore dont think its a possibility
yet it would be worth doing a x ray pns waters view to rule out sinusitis

treatment of course would vary
i hope that the information helps
best of luck
