What Causes Ache In The Kidney Area And Passing Small Kidney Stones?
Depends on the size of the stone
Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome
I appreciate your concern
The decision to do lithotripsy or surgery or conservative management depends on the size of the stone. An X ray KUB and ultrasound or a CT KUB should be advised to determine the exact location and size of any stone , if present. Less than 6 mm stones can pass spontaneously and Potassium citrate along with adequate fluid intake of 2 liters / day should be the way to go. K. Citrate should be given with caution in patients with renal failure or known gastritis / GERD/ Dyspepsia. Less then 15 mm would require lithotripsy and greater size stones would require surgical removal. In the meanwhile antispasmodics ( Buscopan ) and NSAIDs along with fluid intake should be encouraged.
