What Causes Abdominal Pain While On Glycomet, Amaryl And Voglitab?
Question: Hi Doctor ,
My Mother 66 years of age who is diabetic also is suffering from acute stomache pain (left side) since few days. Since few days only she has also increased diabetes medicine dose.
She is taking
GLycomet 250 twice b/d
Amaryl1 twice b/d
Voglitab 0.3 once during lunch ( recently started)
Glycomet 500 once during lunch (recenty started)
Also for Blood pressure she take eritel
For pain , recently she has consulted doctor & he has prescribed Rabonik 20 daily & Anafortan ds in case pain is there.Also ultra sound was done.
I am enclosing a week back dibetes screening report , doctor prescription for pain medicine & ultra sound report. Please advise next steps

Voglibose present in Tab Vogltab cause abdominal pain and discomfort as one of the common side effect. I would suggest that you should discuss with your treating doctor to change the medicine with some other compound which suits her.
Continue with Rabonik 20 for some relief. Her symptoms will improve on stopping the Tab Voglitab.
Moreover, her ultrasound report shows stones in gall bladder. It should be treated/removed. But surgery, if needed should be done after controlling the sugar levels.
