Question: Hi, I arrived back from the Philippines a few days ago after a two week holiday. All of a sudden I am experiencing moderate to severe abdominal cramping which comes and goes. When this pain attacks, I am flinching and holding my stomach in pain. It feels awful. It is accompanied with gas. Howevery, it has been coming and going for the past two days. I have not eaten anything out of the ordinary. Is this something I should be concerned about or should I just wait until it has passed? Thank you.

Dear Ms XXXXXXX
Its non specific intestinal colic. If it is not accompanied by vomiting and you are passing stools regularly there is absolutely no cause for concern.
I would suggest you the following
1. Antispamodic: Tablet Buscopan(Hyoscine Butyl Bromide) or Tablet Spasmoproxyvon( Drotavarine) taken thrice a day will give much neede relief.
2. Soft diet
3. Eat small quantity meals frequently
4. Avoid spicy/oily food
5. Syrup GelusilMPS 5 ml thrice a day after food
It will definitely subside after the medication.
Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.
Take Care
