Brief Answer:
mucous in stool and gastro-intestinal symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Mucus in the stool may indicate that there is inflammation or irritation of the intestinal wall.
Though intestinal amebiasis is a common cause of mucus in stool but since even after treatment with a combination of amoebicidal and antibiotic, you have persistent symptoms with mucus in stool-other possible causes to be considered are ulcerative colitis , Crohn’s disease & divrticulitis which also can cause abdominal cramping and bloating and mucus in stool.
Similar symptoms can also occur with irritable bowel syndrome. When associated with a gastrointestinal infection, mucus in the stool often accompanies diarrhea and abdominal cramping.
If there is no underlying condition present, mucus in stool, abdominal bloating, and constipation may sometimes be improved by increasing fluid intake and demulcents like liquid sucralfate.
Please discuss with your doctor for further investigations like colonoscopy.

Thanks for your reply. Our concern is that we could not complete the antibiotic dose for 5 days due to severe piles generated due to hard stool and now after the piles problem has resolved with other medicine the amoebiasis symptoms have reappeared i.e cramping in stomach get a motion with pain in abdomen, bloated feeling after little intake food. So please guide as what is the line of treatment- if we take dazol we get piles, if we stop we get amoebiasis and now it is more that a month that this problem has begun we do not want to get into chronic or carrier state of this. please let us know if there is any medicine which can solve the infection without these side effects.

Brief Answer:
Intestinal amebiasis & its treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Dazol (Rabeprazole) is not a drug for amebisis. If you are intolerant to tinidazole, you can take a course of Satrogyl (Satranidazole)which belongs to the group of ritroimidazole.Alternative drug for intestinal amebiasis is Diloxanide furoate , a luminal amebicide.
