Question: I have a hard pea size lump under the scalp at the back of my head it started a few days was very tender and got bigger over the day but then shrunk back to pea size it's not as tender as it was but is very hard could you offer any advise in what could cause this

Most likely you have a benign lesion called sebaceous cyst. It is filled with whitish stuff lump covered with a capsule. It may become infected. This is when it gets bigger and painful.
