Question: I have a patch inside my left cheek don't know what it is. Please help me. I've seen my dentist twice and he said I've been biting my cheek at night but I don't think Inambut the spot doesn't hurt at all. It is been there 2 months. Also before having the patch I burned my inside cheek with hot coffee. But I have no pain. Really worried

Brief Answer:
Might be Frictional Keratosis, Leukoplakia..

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain a patch inside your cheek that is present since 2 months and does not hurt..
In case if it would have been due to burning with hot coffee it should have resolved by now..
Yes, cheek biting can cause formation of white patch on the cheek that can be commonly Frictional Keratosis (excessive Keratin formation as a protective phenomena to protect mucosa from injury)..
Leukoplakia is also due to excess keratin formation but it is a long standing condition..
I would like to know a few more details so that I can guide you better towards treatment..

1.What is the exact color of the patch?
2.As you consulted a dentist, did he give you any medicine to take orally or apply over the lesion?
3.Did the lesion increase in size in 2 months?
If possible send a clear image of the lesion so that I can have a better understanding of the patch and can guide you better..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.

No change in size. Sometimes it is smaller sometimes it is bigger. Heres a picture. The dentist told me I was biting my cheek during sleep and that they need to fix my bite but I am still very concerned because I don't bite my cheeks even though I have a crossbite/underbite

Brief Answer:
Looks like Frictional Keratosis..

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome Again..

Thanks for the reply..

I have seen the image and as per your answer as well as the image, your dentist seems right..
The leasion is looking very much like Frictional Keratosis and it is most probably due to cheek bite..
In case if you still want to confirm more you can get a Biopsy of the patch done.
But it is most probably Frictional Keratosis only..
If you bite your cheek in sleep there is a possibility that you have not observed it..
You might be advised a bite correction as well as you can be advised to wear Night guard that is a Dental appliance which will prevent cheek bite..
Do not get worried as gradually the patch will resolve once you get treated and the cause of the problem is resolved..

Any further questions are welcome..

Thanks and regards.

Ok thanks but Yeah I am still concerned. I will try the night guard to see what happens but since it doesn't hurt this is why I doubt it is from cheek biting

Brief Answer:
Nothing looks serious as of now..

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Welcome Again.

As of now nothing is looking serious..
As of now you can start taking a multivitamin supplement and also an antioxidant..
You can also continue with the treatment as required for proper alignment of teeth..
In case if you are not interested in getting a lumpsone treatment done you can continue with a night guard..
You can follow for one month and can revert back with the response of treatment..

Any further questions are welcome..

Thanks and regards.
