What Causes A Painful Lump On The Breast?

default
Posted on Wed, 28 Dec 2016
Question: I had breast implants done 3.5 years ago and haven't had any issues. The last few months or so I noticed an indent on the bottom of my right breast and am now having pain. My doctor said he can feel a lump but is unsure if it is from the implant or something else. I go for an ultrasound in a couple of days. Any suggestions on what this could be from?

Brief Answer:
It can be benign or malignant tumor.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

Thank you for the query.

Unfortunately it is hard to tell about the lump nature without an ultrasound and biopsy. It can be benign tumor as well as malignant. Usually it is just a cyst. Rarely such single lump is associated with an implant.
So you need to wait for the ultrasound. Without it it is hard to predict.

Hope this helps.

What if there is more than one lump? Could that be associated with the implant or still not? I've been reading up on ruptures and also curious if that cld be a possibility?

Brief Answer:
Still not implant associated.

Detailed Answer:
Ruptured impland leads to inflammation and a fibrotic capsule creation around the implant. It can be palpated as a generalized hardness.
Few lumps still do not seem to be implant associated, but it is more probable than with just one lump.

Ok thanks so much. Do these symptoms seem more breast cancer related then?
