What Causes A Lump Inside Penis Shaft?

default
Posted on Thu, 30 Apr 2015
Question: Hello on the bottom on the side of my shaft there was a lump under the skin but it was all the same colour I got thinking it must be an ingrown hair so I tried to pop it! Puss came out and now I'm left with a hole but there was no hair? Ami had unprotected sex 2 years ago but have been with the same partner now for a year and a half and she doesn't have any stds! What could the cause be? It looks like it is healing now and isn't painful and it is where the hair grows, could it just be an infected hair follicule

Brief Answer:
Likely hair follicle infection and you can apply neosporin ointment

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. Considering you have last had unprotected sex 2 years ago and since the last one and half years you have protected sex with a single partner who has a clean sexual history then it is unlikely to be a STD.

2. You have written that there was a small lump under the skin and after popping pus came out, this usually indicates a hair follicle infection or folliculitis.

3. Folliculitis usually happens in areas where there is sweat collection and in those who shave their pubic regions. This is a small infection and due to sweat formation, it can develop pus within.

4. Please apply neosporin ointment twice a day. This is antiseptic and will cause quick healing. Keep your genital region clean and use proper razor and technique while shaving the areas.

5. If it does not heal then please consult your doctor and confirm the condition and take the right treatment.

Wishing you a quick recovery.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Brief Answer:
Repeating tests for STD and showing her reports is best way to convince her

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. I presume you and your partner have a clean sexual history. Convincing your fiance should not be a problem. Every one believes documentation when suspecting infections of STD nature. It is almost certain that you have no STD and the best thing would be to get a test done immediately and then show her the reports.

2. I assume that you shave your pubic region regularly and you can tell her that on one such occasion you developed an infection.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Dr.Vivek
