Posted on Sat, 21 Jun 2014
Question: Hello

I m 20 weeks pregnant and for the last four days I feel that my vagina is wet.
There is no bleeding or white vaginal discharge but it's just wet.
Is it normal ?

Can this be amniotic fluid ?
I'm just scared
Also is there any rest to check if it is amniotic fluid or urine / sweat?

Also what are the signs of amniotic fluid leak at 20 weeks ?

Brief Answer:
Its very much likely to be normal secretions

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Ms XXXXXXX

Wetness and some amount of discharge is totally normal during pregnancy.
Amniotic fluid occurs when there is rupture of amniotic membrane. When there is rupture of amniotic membrane , there is sudden gush of fluid. This gush of fluid is large in quantity and there is continued leakage of fluid.
Wetness of vagina is very much normal and the secretions are usually sticky in consistency. Whereas amniotic fluid has watery consistency.

If there is persistent leakage, I would suggest you to consult your Gynaecologist for further assessment.

Take Care
