Brief Answer:
Rule out a focus of infection in the vicinity
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query.
Bitter taste in oral cavity can be because of multiple factors of which any focus of infection in the vicinity like nose, para nasal
sinuses, oral cavity,
oropharynx is common. Other than this reflux is another common reason. Use of drugs for any reason is another reason as this can be a side effect of some drugs. Dental problems can also lead to this. So, an increase in dose of anti reflux drug can be done.
As you are already been treated for reflux, and your nasal
endoscopy is normal, please get a complete dental examination including gums done.
Also silent
post nasal drip can be cause, please specifically discus with your ENT about this and if need be a
CT scan Para nasal sinuses should be done.
You are taking drug for
hypertension, if that has recently been started and bitter taste started after that, discus with your doctor is a change in that can be tried, although, this drug is not usually the culprit.
Also, take plenty of fluids and maintain a very good oro-dental hygiene. Use an antiseptic mouth wash after meals for few days.
Your ENT is to rule out any focus of infection in the
nasopharynx as well as tonsillar region also. Infection can persist in these reasons without much symptoms.
Feel free to ask another query.
