What Cause Tinnitus While On Viagra?

default
Posted on Tue, 14 Feb 2017
Question: I took 100 mg of Viagra on Saturday around noon. Ringing in the ears started around 8 PM that night and continues. What can I do to stop the ringing in the ears? What is likelihood the tinnitus was caused by Viagra? I want to continue use of Viagra. Previously I was taking 50 mg of Viagra with no side effects. I am taking Viagra under MD prescription.

Brief Answer:
Measure your blood pressure;check ears by ENT;reduce Viagra back to 50 mg

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

Unfortunately, hearing loss and tinnitus has been reported among patients using Viagra. Although not all the patients has reported as side effect, unfortunately, it might happen as in your case.

The mechanism of action although unclear, is believed due to increased blood flow and stress to the hear cells while using Viagra.

I advise to measure your blood pressure (bp), record the results for further evaluation.

Gingko and Zinc/vit B complex supplements can also help ease tinnitus when used on long term.

Discuss this further with your MD. Plus discuss to get back to 50 mg of Viagra instead of 100 mg until improvement of tinnitus.

Hope this helps.
