Posted on Fri, 5 Dec 2014
Question: My husband, a 28 year old male has suddenly started getting terribly dizzy when looking up. He does this several times a day at his job and is sometimes on a ladder when looking like this. Thank you for you assistance in this matter.

Brief Answer:
Dizziness is multifactorial, needs an otorhinolaryngologist

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

As you mentioned dizziness is more likely when standing on ladder and looking up. Such presentation with position related imbalances and dizziness is likely of a Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo BPPV , very common and prevalent in US.

It also needs to look at the inner ear status and history of any ear canal infection, pain or clogging will make it more likely to be a labyrinthine issue.

Other simple etiologies like post flu, recent viral infection, headaches and migraines etc all can cause this and needs to be evaluated any how.

All you need to do is get your husband to an otorhinolaryngologist and let them take care of him from there.

Don't worry it's easily manageable and all it needs is care in posture and avoiding any such incident like ladder climbing to prevent any fall or trauma.

I hope it helps. Take good care of your husband and your self, do as directed and dont forget to close the discussion please.

may the odds be ever in your favour.
