What Are The Withdrawal Symptoms Of Xanax?

default
Posted on Tue, 7 Apr 2015
Question: My doctor passed away last week. (E.E XXXXXXX MD, Elizabethton, TN) He was giving me medicine for my severe anxiety. I have ended up in the ER twice from anxiety/panic attacks. The med he gave me changed my life for the better more than I can say. Now I don't know what to do. I picked up my records from his office this morning.

Brief Answer:
continue xanax until you see other doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

Xanax is a benzodiazepine drug. It is very potent and can cause tolerance and dependence. However very good drug to relieve anxiety in initial part of treatment.
I am sorry for your doctor , may her soul rest in piece.
As you are feeling good with xanax, continue the same until you start treatment with other doctor on regular basis.
Xanax should not be taken for long. It can cause withdrawal symptoms on stopping the drug after long term use.
You will be shifted on clonazepam or suitable SSRI like paroxetine by your new doctor likely.
Simultaneously psychotherapy like CBT- cognitive behavior therapy would also help.

Hope I have answered your query, I will be happy to help further if other questions are there.

Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.
