I only have a couple of these symptoms. The reason I was concerned is that, I'm overweight and I've never, ever had a loss of appetite, even when ill. Lately, I just don't want anything to eat. When I do eat, I do get full faster. Now, I'm delighted by this, but since it's never occurred, also a bit nervous. I am trying to lose weight (even going to a gym) and I've lost about 35 lbs., but it's been over a period of about 4 months. Every once in a while, I have a little 'feeling' in my stomach, kinda higher up; but that's all...and it isn't while I'm eating, but afterwards. Otherwise, no pain, bleeding, etc. Do I need to go to my dr. or just wait and see if another symptom develops? It's just difficult to afford the dr. all the time. Oh, I forgot, I have MS (geez, how could I have forgotten that?!).

Something else I forgot. Thank you very much, Dr. Rebich.

Brief Answer:
Likely related to MS

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

A lot of your symptoms are likely related to your MS. About 65% of people MS with have stomach or intestinal symptoms and about 30% will have postprandial fullness like you describe. As you know, it is likely a neuropathic problem with your stomach and intestines which is causing them to be slow and not function appropriately. I do not think you need to be concerned. However, if you continue to lose weight and are unable to eat, I would then recommend further work up. You may ultimately need nutrition given through an IV or a feeding tube. In addition, your neurologist may want to add additional medications to your regimen to help your symptoms.
