Posted on Tue, 11 Aug 2015
Question: Hi. I have been taking about 150 to 200mg of tramodol a day for almost 10 years now. My kidneys are ok. But i got a call from my doctor telling me they wanna see me next week about my blood work and they would not say on the phone. i begged them to tell me. i asked if it was my kidneys and the nurse said no. I asked if it was my liver and she said, 'i am not allowed to say anything on the phone.' So now I am worried as hell. The nurse said it was nothing to worry about but I am freaking out and the doctor wont call me back. I don't drink alcohol. I have never taken more than the dose. I'm 34 and fit and very slim. What do you think? please help

Brief Answer:
can't predict !

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

tramadol may indeed inflict damage to the liver but it may also cause a higher than usual uric acid and glucose. Despite that, I can't predict which test was abnormal in your check-up. Since they've told you that the results are not worrisome, why would you worry that much? Perhaps it has nothing to do with tramadol. A commonly abnormal result in young and otherwise healthy women is their hematocrit and serum ferritin due to menstrual bleeding.

So you understand that there are various possibilities and nobody can predict what the actual abnormal test is!

I hope you find my comments helpful and reassuring!

Kind Regards!

Thanks. I just worry by nature. This is a new doctor. I have had high cholesterol (hereditary) before and anemia and low iron before but maybe since this is a new doctor and their first test with me maybe this is why. I'm sorry if I seem crazy. I have high anxiety.

I don't get my period but i have a mirina IUD in me. I am fine with this since my periods were always god awful anyways and I don't want children. I have too much stress in my life and don't need added health stress.

Brief Answer:
So it has to be the anemia probably and/or cholesterol levels

You're welcome!
I see... anxiety is not easy to overcome! Just try to remember the facts! You've got the information that it's nothing to worry about and you do know some abnormal results that you've got in the past. Taking everything into account, the same abnormal tests is the most likely outcome!

Kind Regards!
