What Are The Side Effects Of Lyrica?

Question: Is Lyrica not covered by most insurance? I had a pain doctor ask me if I have tried Lyrica and I had a script that I tried last night that was filled a few years ago but not sure if I paid for it as I read that many patients have to pay for this without using their insurance. One pill helped me sleep and with less pain the next day and I was curious if I should pursue trying this medicine out ...also read that is seems to be hard to get off once you are on it which I fear as I am trying to find an option to fentanyl patches as they are not helping me that much anymore...building a tolerance after sixteen years. Also doctors are now fearful of prescribing it so I long to find alternative to severe long term pain relief. I have read both good and bad things about Lyrica but I am willing to risk in order to try other viable options....could one pill , 50 mg really help as I slept so well afterwards and my pain is about fifty per cent less so I read reviews. comments and people really seem sometimes to get rather quick results. some in two days so one night of good restful sleep really surprised me last night. I just tried the fifty mg .. I have a whole bottle of those and I hate to try without my physicians knowledge but he mentioned that he would like to try me on it but I wonder if he would of lessened my dose of fentanyl while titrating the dose lyrica. Do you know???

Brief Answer:
You should not go behind your doctor's back

Detailed Answer:
Lyrica is a controlled substance. Addiction to it is not common. Serious side effects are even more rare. It doesn't have much itneraction wtih narcotics except to be better with pain. Yes, quick results and a trend to do better with time.

So, there isn't much downside to taking it.

There is to lying about it.
