Question: Hello doctor my age is 35 years. I am suffering from melasma since 10 years sometimes it darkens and sometimes lighten by itself...someone has suggested me tab tranostat 250mg b. d...i wanted to know is it safe to use this drug and probable side effects and how to use...

This is a new drug in the treatment of melasma and can be used safely.
The dose of tranxaemic acid is 250 mg twice daily for 2-3 months.
It doesn't have much side effects but should be avoided in pregnancy and in persons with bleeding disorder or coagulopathy.
