What Are The Side Effect Of Budecort Inhaler?
Question: Hi Dr.
My kid was having cough contineously for 7 days. We have given coiple of cough syrups and asthalin and levolin during nebulization but not any relief. Finally doctor advised us bueecort inhaler 200. Given from last ev2ning and seen lil improvement. Is it ok to give budecort qnd also wil cough come back once stops. How long we should give this inhaler. Can you pl help us in understanding the reason for he cough. Is this dangerous and will come again. We are very scared. He has been coughing ful night and taking out flum.

Majority of Respiratory tract infection in children are viral in origin and self limiting. The cause of persistent symptoms is due to
1. Hyper reactivity of airway; Infection of Respiratory tract cause persistent inflammation of airway causing bronchospasm
2. Persistent infection
If the following criteria are fulfilled there is no cause for concern
1. Absence of Fever or fever less than 100°F
2. Respiration normal and quite
3. Child is accepting feeds well
As I had mentioned that there is persistent inflammation, short term use of anti -iinflammatory sspray like Budecort is helpful. It will not cause any major side effects. It is used for 3 to 5 days .
Apart from it I would also suggest the following which will be helpful
1. Steam inhalation : Preferably using electronic steamer.
2. Warm Saline gargling : To a glass of lukewarm water add 2 spoons of common table salt. Make child gargle the throat with it thrice a day.
3. Decoction : 1 cup of milk + 2 spoon sugar + 20 Tulsi leaves + 1/2 spoon turmeric. Bring it to boil. Filter it and feed child warm thrice a day.
4. Normal Saline Nebulization
