What Are The Most Common Surgical Techniques For Adult Circumcision?

default
Posted on Fri, 11 Dec 2015
Question: I was scheduled for a circumcision soon. My question was if there are different methods to perform a circumcision? I researched it online and some websites talk about different methods such as tight, loose, high, low? My urologist didn't mention any of these methods and said his method is something called the dissection technique. These methods I saw online have seem less invasive and something I prefer, but my urologist has never heard of any of these methods? What should I do?

Brief Answer:
Please, show him the literature printed out!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

There are several different surgical techniques. Which a surgeon uses depends on his experience. If your surgeon has never heard of this before, there is no point in pressing that he talks about them because he cannot perform them. My advice would be that you relocate to someone who does what you think is less invasive than pushing him to do a procedure he is certainly not experienced at because you have read about online.

Truth be told: These methods are different but the final results are similar or the same. I will recommend you settle with your urologist unless there is something else that am unable to grasp at this time.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Thanks for the response.
This urologist was recommended by my family doctor, who said hes one of the best urologists, with a lot of experience. I think I'm going to go through with the procedure with the this doctor, because as you said the end result from a circumcision is usually the same or very similar for all doctors. Is there any difference with doctors from different countries in terms of methods? I'm wondering because the methods I saw online are what I believe XXXXXXX doctors use and I'm living in Canada. Do methods taught depend upon the country they are taught in or the school they attend? or maybe their own research and what they feel is best? Thanks so much.

Brief Answer:
Go with him!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

This is the best thing to do. Go with the doctor. Procedures differ and depend on the doctor, country, area, training, school, experience. There is no gold standard but several methods that are used to achieve the same goal.

I wish you well and keep me updated with the new developments.
