Question: need info re interaction between TAMOXIFEN and ESSIAC (tradename for 4-herb tea herbal healer therapy) as part of cancer treatment?

A have read your query and understand your concern.

There has been no clinical trials to study the interactions between Tamoxifen and Essiac. Thought there are various opinions of scholars regarding the two, which i have listed below for you.

1- Tamoxifen is anti-estrogenic and Essiac has estrogen mimicking effects, so a few are of the opinion that the two should not be combined as the effect of tamoxifen may be blunted.

2- As many patients have taken the above combination before, and have not reported any complications, so a few scholars say that they can be taken together without any harm. But...But...as there are no controlled studies, and the stage of cancer in those patients were not documented, so one cannot comment with any certainty on above observation.

3- There have been quiet a few clinical trails regarding the efficacy of Essiac, where all of them showed that Essiac has NO effect on the outcome of breast cancer.

Thought i didn't meant to confuse you further, as these are the facts that i have come across while i was trying to find an answer for you. Now its all up to you to decide.
