What Are The Health Impacts Of Prominent Thyroid?

Question: I had a physical exam today and the Dr said I have prominent thyroid. He said I have a skinny neck and maybe that is why it is prominent, but just in case, he ordered blood lab tests. What does prominent thyroid mean? what are the possibilities that he should be ruling out?

Noted. Thyroid prominence is a very vague term and is not specific. Prominence may be due to thin neck as you mentioned. It is important to know if the thyroid is enlarged or if there are nodules. We shall await the thyroid blood tests. Besides, it may be good to get a thyroid ultrasound scan as well.

had an oral encounter (cunnilingus, fellatio, and my penis touched the outside of her vagina for few seconds, never inside) with someone of unknown status 7 weeks ago. I took HIV rapid test (blood from finger prick) 1 week and again 6 weeks after the encounter and both returned negative. I also had chlamydia/gonorrhea tests and they were negative.

Can this enlarged thiroyd be related to this encounter? I haven't disclosed this to my Dr. As at the time I didn't think it is relevant.
