Question: I accidently ingested some Lysol I had in a metal cup. I thought I had rinsed it out properly, but now I have stomach irritation, and bile movements.

Brief Answer:
You'll live. That's 100% sure. Seriously.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

Thanks for contacting us in this situation.

1. In all probability, the amount of Lysol was too small to cause any serious damage.
2. I would ask you to reach a medical facility and kindly spend awhile there, just to be sure, and be practical.
3. In the meanwhile, you can drink salt water, the kind used for gargling, just a half teaspoonful in say 200 ml of water. Drink this, and it will induce vomiting (not quite unpleasant). This will irrigate your stomach. Do not exceed 1 full teaspoonful of salt.
4. If you find this unpleasant, then you need to drink milk (normal unprocessed), so it can 'coat' your stomach and prevent damage. Just fetch some olive oil, and ingest it.
5. If you can't lay your hands on milk and olive oil, then run to the local pharmacy and ask for any antacid (anti - acidity) syrup, say that contains aluminum hydroxide. Just don't be finicky or picky about the flavor. This will neutralize the poison.
6. In the ER, activated charcoal, might be used. It's probably not an over the counter medication.
7. Follow these instructions carefully and meticulously.
8. Be optimistic. Think positively.

Contact us anytime 24x7x365.

Thanks,
Dr. Neel Kudchadkar
