Brief Answer:
You can get pregnant.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us. Followings are my suggestions:

1) YES, you can be pregnant with PCOD. For that, you need a regular monthly cycle and proper ovulation. You should follow above treatment as suggested by your doctor. Additionally, I would add progesterone pill (like DUPHASTON etc) from D16 to D25 to get withdrawal bleeding like period in each cycle.

2) Your ideal weight would be 70-75 kg according to height. Therefore, body weight reduction is MUST needed to correct hormonal imbalance. You should take VERY LOW carbohydrate diet with avoidance of fatty/ spicy/ salty food and do regular physical exercise through jogging/ running/ treadmill etc. It will be more effective to REGULARIZE your period and do smooth intercourse.

3) When you get your period REGULARLY, you have to do regular unprotected sex close to your ovulation day (14 days prior to actual due date) to maximize the chance of pregnancy. You can use OVULATION KIT to track down your ovulation day in the mid cycle.

Hope, I have answered your query. If you don't have any other query, you can close the discussion.

Wish your good health and take care yourself.

1)Yes..i agree i need regular monthly cycle and proper ovulation to get pregnant. But sometimes my periods stays for more than a month or does not come at all.Due to period continuing forever,i am not able to do any exercise..getting stomach pains. Can you suggest me tablet for period regularisation so that my periods problem will be stopped?

2)My period started on May 14th and continuing till date XXXXXXX 5th. So for withdrawal bleeding, should i take DUPHASTON tablet?.If so, for how many days?

3)You have mentioned DUPHASTON for withdrawal bleeding from Day 16 to Day 25.

Once my period starts ,then i need to take DUPHASTON tablet from 16th day to 25th day right..In that case, will bleeding stops and period starts coming regularly in next cycle?

Brief Answer:
TAKE DUPHASTON FROM D16-D25 FOR NEXT 3 CYCLES.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for response.

1) Your prolonged period occurs mostly due to hypothyroidism. Therefore, it should be properly treated with adjusted dose of THYRONORM. It has important role to regularize your period and you must visit to your doctor for follow-up.

2) It takes time to build a regular cycle in case of PCOD with Hypothyroidism. However, I suggest you to take progesterone pill (DUPHASTON) for at least 3 cycles from D16 to D25 (10 days) after starting your next cycle. It will be effective to stop heavy bleeding and regularize your period cycle gradually. Before starting duphaston discuss about this plan with your treating doctor.

Hope, it helps for you. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any query.

Good luck and all the best.

Regards,
Dr Soumen
