Brief Answer:
They are normal cells lining the urinary tract and not a concern

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
The cells lining the urinary tract are called urothelial cells. Some of these normal cells have been found in your urine. They have written it as benign so that the findings are not confused with abnormal cells. These cells can be found in normal conditions and for no particular reason

There is no serious concern on the finding of urothelial cells in the urine report. Please take treatment if you have any urinary symptoms. Drink lots of water and visit washrooms regularly if you are having burning urination.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek

The reason for the urinalysis and the doctor visit was because I had two separate one day episodes of dark urine. This was noticed throughout the day, but became more noticeable after exercise. The episodes were 21 days apart. I felt otherwise normal, but my urine is usually a light yellow, lemonade color so the difference was concerning to me. In view of the fact that all urinalysis was normal, could it be possible that this is due to the exercise? I recently started a more vigorous routine.

Brief Answer:
You might have had exertional rhabdomyolysis, please discuss with doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing in with an update.

It is important for you to discuss your symptoms in details with your treating doctors. You might be having exertional rhabdomyolysis which is a concern. This happens when there is muscle injury due to over exertion as you have written above. This can cause sudden kidney shut down and even require you to take intensive treatment should it happen regularly. Please choose a less vigorous exercise routine and keep yourself hydrated before and after the physical activities. You must also check your regular electrolyte intake and see that the balance is not disturbed by your exercise routine.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
