To determine if a person is overweight or obese we need to calculate his/her Body mass index or BMI. To calculate BMI we need to know your height.
BMI is calculated as: body weight (in kg) ÷ height (in meters) squared.

If the BMI is > 26kg/m2 then we say that the person is overweight while if it is >30kg/m2 then we call the person obese.

Thus before you start any therapy calculate your BMI and see if you are really overweight. If so then also calculate the amount of weight reduction needed to bring your BMI back to normal.

Once we have determined the above we can prescribe you a low calorie diet (in consultation with a dietician) and an exercise regimen.
