Question: I want to know if there is connection between diabtes and ankylosing spondylites . Where as diabetes afects ankylosing spondylites.

Ankylosing spondylitis and Diabetes does not have any connection as for as the cause of the diseases are concerned.

Because Ankylosing spondylitis is an inflammatory disease with affect the spine and diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder due to decreased insulin.

But one thing is common in both condition.

Both has increased risk of cardiac diseases like coronary artery disease, heart attacks.
So utmost care should be given to cardiac health.

Secondly people with both this condition are prone for cerebrovascular accidents like stroke.

Here the goal is to prevent such condition by control of blood sugar and regular cardiac checkup.
