Question: Hello, my fiancé is having trouble getting a hard erection, he doesn't seem to go really hard at all. When he gets an erection he tries intercourse but the penis is not hard enough to enter me. Is there anything that can help us? We are both 27, average weight, he is 6'2 and i'm 5'2, he has aspergers syndrome, but our medical histories are fine, nothing major.

Hi,

Thanks for the query.

Your fiance might be suffering with a condition which is know as Erectile Dysfunction.
There are many causes for the same.

Some of them are reversible.

Smoking /Alcohol /Cholesterol /Stress /Thyroid abnormalities, all can have same impact on erection.
Some people tend to have blockage of the vessels/arteries of penis and this can lead to erectile dysfunction.

He needs to get evaluated and control these risk factor if he has them.

Secondly, he should get a penile doppler to assess the vasculature of the penis.
Also get a counselling done as such persons too would be anxious producing erectile dysfunction.

If investigations are inconclusive, he will need to take Sildenafil to help with erection.

Hope this answers your query. Please get back if you need any further information.

Thanks and Regards,

Dr Kiran
