Hello!

Thank you for the query.

As the symptoms has appeared at the same time in two persons, most likely the reason of it is bacterial infection (due to some food poisoning for example). Especially if the symptoms has started after a specific meal.
Except the diarrhea and bad taste you may suffer from fever, lack of appetite, nausea, vomiting, weakness.
Every diarrhea which lasts longer than 48 hours should be diagnosed. That is why I suggest you to visit your doctor, have stool tests, stool culture tests, blood work, ions level (you both can be dehydrated with ions deficiencies).
Antibiotics should be prescribed.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
