I am a 30yrs aged male working as a software engineer. For the last two years I am suffering from a disease which i am not able to figure out the exact reason.I have checked with many Neurologists and have done all the possible tests(MRI,Nerve conduction test,Blood test with normal results) without any effective result and this problem seems to be getting severe day by day. I am feeling the tingling sensations in the legs continuously while sitting. At night i have to get up multiple times because of the strain in the legs or hand while sleeping. The complete left side of my body has became a kind of numb and the pressure or pain is different from the right part of my body for any work i do.Please help me with your suggestion. Is this because of any anxiety disorder or depression as told by the doctors and as my tests always coming out normal.

All these started almost ten years back when i suffered from checken pox severly. After that about two years later this tinling sensations started in the body and i felt the disruption in blood flow for small work. While driving in two wheeler, after 10 minuted of driving, my palms will gets this strage blodd disruption sensation and i have to stop somewhere to make it normal by shaking. This sensation increased rapidly in few more years after that and started in head also while sleeping. After these two years back some very strange feeling came in the toe of my right leg as if something went inside and i felt little numbness in that.Slowly that growed to the entire leg and now my whole left part of the body feels different than the right part.If i work for sometime or run,I will not feel the same pain in both side of my body.

In these years I have consulted many neurologists, did MRI,NCS and all tests came normal. So doctor suggested its some kind of mental illness. But how can i ignore a physical symptom and feel relax that my tests are normal.Am i leading to some kind of paralysis?.As of now I can feel the pain and sensation in my left part of body but definiteley it is not normal.

Can you please help me how should I go about it and where can i get a tests/treatment for this kind of problem. Is it some kind of skin diseases or Peripheral Nerve Hyperexcitability. What other tests I can do (in india) to properly diagnosis this problem.

Thanks for the query

There are a couple of things which come to mind with the symptoms you report and none of them is life-threatening. As the neurological symptoms in you are episodic, fluctuating and transient, I personally feel you are not suffering from any progressive Neurological disorder.

As most symptoms started after suffering from chicken pox, the closest possibility I can think is of demyelinating disease in you. MRI and nerve conduction studies are sensitive enough to pick up these findings and hence I can exclude this possibility.

So I personally feel as further investigations would be of no benefit at this point of time. As relevant investigations were negative, If I would have been your treating doctor I would follow you up closely and would re-evaluate if symptoms recur or progress. If there are any symptoms of anxiety, depression or stress in you I advise you to consult psychologist or a psychiatrist to confirm or exclude these possibilities.

I thank you again for submitting your question. I hope you found my response to be helpful and informative. If you have any additional concerns I would be happy to address them.

Thank a lot Doctor,

I am relieved reading the answer and every time I get the results of my MRI and other tests I get the same relief.I do suffer from the anxiety ( basically I am a kind of restless always ,cant sit without shaking my legs for example ) and few years passed I am suffering from depression.(and the cause of depression is mainly because of this health problem which i am facing). But how can I ignore a physical problem like this.Does anxiety and depression creates this kind of effects in body.

Please advise how I can deal with this.(Also I am asmoker and alcoholic which i reduced a lot from past few months).

Once again Thanks,

Thanks for the follow up query

Anxiety and depression would make the nerve more sensitive and non-specific symptoms like your would be exaggerated and make one feel as if suffering from Neurological problems. As suggested earlier pscyhologist and psychiatrist would be the ideal person to deal these issues.

Wishing you good health.
