What Do The Following Blood Test Reports Indicate?

default
Posted on Thu, 2 Mar 2017
Question: Thank you, Dr. Ditah, for responding. The rheumatologist said that the TSH tests were negative, and blood levels were all good, but my auto immune response seems to be having a party. She thinks this is the cause of my hair loss, and prescribed hydroxychloriquine and folic acid. However, my dermatologist thinks that all I need is a vitamin enriched shampoo and biotin suppliments. What do you think?

Brief Answer:
These medications seem to be prescribed for different reasons!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

1. I will like that you ask your rheumatologist if this drug was prescribed for a specific disease condition such as rheumatoid arthritis or something else? Am not sure this is a preferred drug for autoimmune disease in this context!

2. I have no issues with vitamin enriched shampoos and biotin supplements. This is safe and patient friendly with no side effects. I will suggest that you take it and see how well you perform on this.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me as soon as you talk to your rheumatologist about this.

Kind regards
