Brief Answer:
You can have an induced abortion under medical supervision.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

If you have tested positive on a home pregnancy test and do not wish to retain this pregnancy, you should get an induced abortion under medical supervision. Self-medication is to be avoided.

Please see a specialist for a proper clinical confirmation. A trans-vaginal sonogram will give the location of the gestation sac and the age of the pregnancy. You also need routine blood counts and urinalysis.

Once everything is deemed fit, your consultant will induce either a medical or surgical abortion. Medical abortion can be done up to 9 weeks of gestation, beyond which surgical abortion is performed. Since you are likely to be in very early pregnancy, you may do well with a medical abortion. The whole process takes 2-3 days. Follow up is done after 3 weeks to exclude any retained products.

Please remember, self-medication to induce an abortion is fraught with dangers like severe bleeding, infection, retention of products, infertility in future etc.

Hope your query has been clarified. Please feel free to contact for further information. I will be happy to help.

regards,
Shanti.V.
