Brief Answer:
should fight the main factor causing your belly fat...

Detailed Answer:
Hi xxxxxx,

I understand your concern.

You are interested for the most suitable exercises to reduce your belly fat.
Ok, now, I need to explain a few things to you.

You say to have a belly fat. Now, as a physician I try to figure out why:
- sedentary life?
- steroid use?
- increased appetite?
- stress?
- too much alcohol or drugs consumed?
- hormonal imbalance: thyroid problems for example?

This is because to succeed in reducing your belly fat, the very first thing is to fight what is causing it.

If your work requires sitting most time of the day; there are little chances to reduce belly fat especially if you also do not care about what you consume during the day.

2. The next step is to reduce calories intake. Increase plain water intake an you'll get your belly fat down.

3. Exercises are also very important. The goal is to make you sweat. If you sweat for at least 10 to 20 minutes per day; then, most probably your belly fat will be reduced too.

There are some types of clothes or slimming machines that can keep your belly muscles exercised and sweat when your wear them on. You can try them too.

Do not forge that the most important thing is to eliminate the main factor that has caused belly fat.

Hope this will help. I believe within a month, you will see evident changes if you exercise, cut the calories, make you sweat and increase water intake.

Dear Dr Albana,

The main reason for the Belly fat is a sedentry lifestyle. I do not have much fat on my body except for at the Belly. Its also combined by the fact that i am not consistent with exercises. Generally i do Walking/running once in a few days.

So specifically can you recommend some exercises that can target the Belly fat.

Brief Answer:
Exercise program advised below...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back xxxxxx,

Thank you for providing the requested information.

Now, I believe your doctor or dietitian have talked to you about the negative impact of sedentary life. I also believe, you might be informed yourself about its negative impact.

With regards to specific exercises, determination is the key. There is a program with 5 exercises I usually recommend to my patients:

- Dumbbell Swing (DS)
- Squat thrust (ST)

Repeat 15 times DS followed by 15 reps of ST; then immediately 14 DS followed by 14 ST and repeat until you complete a 240 reps round for less than 15 minutes (if you can).

Start slowly until you achieve this goal.

Bicycle exercise is the most common recommended and with success.

Hope this program will work for you.
