Suggest Various Ways To Conform Pregnancy

Question: Hi, I need to take norethisterone before I go on a trip later this month to delay my period but I am not sure if I am pregnant. I understand i need to take the medicine about 5 days before my period is due. This would be too early for me to do a pregnancy test using an over the counter kit. How early would I be able to detect a pregnancy if I test for it at the doctor's and if in the event there is a positive result after I have started the medicine, how much of an impact will this have on the pregnancy? Brief Answer:
Blood test will help in confirming or ruling out pregnancy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Pregnancy can be detected at 12 days post ovulation by the blood test for pregnancy. It is best to do a blood test before starting with norethisterone to diagnose early pregnancy.
If you take norethisterone during early pregnancy it usually does not have any serious effect on the fetus but it is a category B drug and should not be taken until absolutely necessary.
