Suggest Treatment To Remove Pimple On Lips

Posted on Tue, 15 Apr 2014
Question: I rubbed moisturizer into my lips (bad idea) and I got a large pimple in my upper lip. It's hard like a marble and slowly making its way out. It doesn't itch but it looks like a zit on my upper lip. I started taking keflex 3 days ago but I don't think it's doing much. How will this resolve? I don't want to pop it because of its location. I also have mupirocin & neosporin but haven't used them cause they can clog.

Brief Answer: Add an anti inflammatory medicine. Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for writing your query. After reading your post, I would advise that you should continue with the antibiotic Keflex you are taking. You should add an anti inflammatory medicine like Ibuprofen twice daily after meals along with serratipeptidase and an antacid like Omeprazole 40mg once a day. Do not prick it by yourself. Such procedures should be done under strict aseptic conditions by a medical professional only. Antibiotic cream like neomycin can be applied locally. It will help in faster recovery. I hope this is helpful to you. If you have any further query, I will be happy to help. Thanks.

Hi Doctor XXXXXXX Thanks for getting back to me. I attached a photo of the issue under "upload new reports". Are serratipeptidase and Omeprazole 40mg prescription drugs or OTC? What should I expect? Will it ooze out on its own. Any estimate on how many weeks until it heals? Thank-you Doctor.

Brief Answer: It will take about 5-7 days for complete recovery. Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for your response. I have seen your picture. I would advise to follow the instructions already mentioned. When fully ripe, the pus collected may ooze out by an opening. It will take about 5-7 days for complete recovery. Omeprazole is OTC while serratiopeptidase is not. If unavailable at your place, you may continue with other medicines as mentioned. I hope this answers your query. If you have any further doubts, please mention. Thanks.

Brief Answer: ibuprofen will help in fast recovery. Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for your response. Ibuprofen will help in decreasing the inflammation associated with it. I would also suggest that you should also take a probiotic along with the antibiotic as the antibiotic usually causes loose motions due loss of useful bacterial flora present in intestines which help in the process of digestion and absorption. This loss is cured by taking probiotics along with an antibiotic. Thanks.
