Suggest Treatment Schizophrenia And Bipolar Disorder

Question: I have a friend who suffers badly from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. He speaks of famous people conspiring to hurt him and the government being out to get him. He's left the country. He went to Cambodia which makes the whole situation a lot worse. Now he's threatening (in writing) to commit suicide. I am wondering what can I do? I don't want to say the wrong thing (we speak via telephone/facebook). Should I tell him he's having delusions and to come home? My concern is that he'll stop speaking to me and shut off communications.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.

I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.

You friend has psyhosis and he has delusions. No matter how much you try to convince him, he wont. I dont want to scare you but believing his delusions he may even be risky for others or himself as well. Other than the invokuntary admission nothing else can work at this stage. Ask him to go to the police and file a complaint so that those people will note it and seek psychiatric help. Or else you yourself should contact the police of the land so that he can be given medical treatment. By doing so you will be helping your friend. Ones he is fjne he will thank you.

Hope I am able to answer your concerns.

If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
