Suggest Treatment For Withdrawal Symptoms Of Venlafaxine

default
Posted on Wed, 28 Jun 2017
Question: I have been coughing for a week accompanied by sinus pressure and a general feeling of tiredness. I've also lost me voice. My throat isn't sore but it is somewhat hard to swallow. I was away from home so I went to an urgent care center. The doctor prescribed a Z pac and a steroid. I also ran out of venaflexine and haven't taken the drug in a week.. Could there be withdrawn symptoms? I also have a persistent dull headache.

Brief Answer:
Withdrawal symptoms and laryngitis

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir, I have gone through your question and I understand your concerns but stopping venlafaxine suddenly is probably the cause of the general feeling of a tiredness and constant headache . It can also lead to nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, insomnia, nightmares, anger, confusion and mood swings.

As for your throat, this is probably laryngitis that can be caused by viral or bacterial infection. Z-pack will help resolve the bacterial infection but not the viral one. viral infection is usually self-limited.

Steroids will help resolve the inflammation. As for the coughing, you can try a cough suppressant as Dextromethorphan10mg 8 hourly(you may need a prescription from your local physician for this). As for the sinus pressure, you should take an antihistaminic as Cetirizine 5mg once daily before going to bed.

I hope I answered your question.
